Lost River Film Fest
With a focus on new independent cinema, especially Texas-made features and shorts, the Lost River Film Fest runs Oct. 12-15 in San Marcos. The festival opens Oct. 20 with a 50th anniversary screening of Sam Peckinpah's The Getaway, which was partially shot in San Marcos. The festival, which places a special emphasis on political and social justice narrative and documentary films, closes Oct. 15 with the Myanmarese drama What Happened to the Wolf? The festival also will hold satellite events, featuring selections from its San Marcos program, on Nov. 4 in Seguin (the Scrambled Genius Film Fest) and Nov. 5 in Lockhart (the Endora Film Fest), with the latter featuring a 30th anniversary screening of the locally shot What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
