Interview:
Andrew Disney, director,
"Intramural"
Are you ready for some intramural flag football? Director Andrew Disney’s Austin-shot Intramural, a college campus comedy that pokes fun at inspirational fact-based sports films, chronicles the unexpected success of an underdog intramural flag football team. The Panthers have a shot at making some noise in the playoffs if they can get past a tragic loss and fend off opposition from their archrivals, the Titans. Intramural stars Obvious Child and The Office’s Jake Lacy as the Panthers’ captain, Searching for Sonny’s Nick Kocher as the Panthers’ wheelchair-bound coach. Intramural also features includes three current Saturday Night Live cast members: Beck Bennett as the Titans’ tightly wound captain; Kate McKinnon as Lacy’s overbearing fiancée; and Jay Pharoah as a pothead bleacher bum who amuses himself by calling the games with his pal D.C. Pierson. The Twilight Saga’s Nikki Reed also appears as Bennett’s sister. Andrew Disney previously directed Searching for Sonny. Written by Austinite Bradley Jackson, Intramural will screen 7 p.m. May 3 during the Hill Country Film Festival. Disney also will show clips from Intramural during The Show! at 7:30 p.m. May 18 at the Spider House Ballroom.
