Interview:
Monique Walton, producer,
"Skunk"
Written and directed by Annie Silverstein, and produced by Monique Walton, the Austin-shot short film Skunk tells the story of 14-year-old rural Texas girl Leila (Jenivieve Nugent) who captures the eye of a moody neighborhood boy, Marco (Kiowa Tucker). Leila’s encounter with Marco stirs her sexual desires. In the process, though, she places her pit bull Bubba in danger. Annie Silverstein previously directed the short film Spark, while producer Monique Walton directed The Becoming Box. Both are UT Radio-Television-Film graduate students. Skunk will screen during this year’s Cannes Film Festival as part of the Cinéfondation Selection sidebar. There will be a special Skunk event at 6 p.m. May 4 at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Annie Silverstein joins Monique Walton during this interview.
