Interview:
Darren Lynn Bousman,
director,
"Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival"
_ Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival marks the continuation of the 2012 musical horror fable The Devil’s Carnival, director Darren Lynn Bousman and co-writer Terrance Zdunich's follow-up collaboration to 2008's Repo! The Genetic Opera. In Alleluia!, Hell all but declares war on Heaven when Lucifer (Zdunich) allows the condemned their freedom, much to the chagrin of God (Paul Sorvino). Unlike The Devil’s Carnival, which was set mostly in Hell, Alleluia! takes place in a Heaven that is re-imagined as a Golden Age of Hollywood movie studio. The cast also includes many names associated with film and stage musical: Jesus Christ Superstar’s Ted Neeley, The Rocky Horror Picture Show's Barry Bostwick, and Rent’s Adam Pascal. David Hasselhoff, Dayton Callie, Bill Moseley, and Lyndon Smith round out the cast. The Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival tour will make its Austin stop at 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Southwest Theaters. The event includes pre-screening entertainment and a post-screening Q&A with director Darren Lynn Bousman and writer Terrance Zdunich. Darren Lynn Bousman previously directed Saw II-IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera, the 2010 Mother’s Day remake, and 11-11-11. Aired: Sept. 24, 2015 Web site: http://www.thedevilscarnival.com/ |
