Interview:
Ethan Embry, "Cheap Thrills"
What is your price? That is the question asked by Cheap Thrills, the Drafthouse Films-distributed dark comedy that finds two financially strapped men abandoning their moral principles in exchange for some much-needed cash. During the course of one night, Compliance’s Pat Healy and Can’t Hardy Wait’s Ethan Embry (right) compete against each other in series of escalating dares proposed by the bored couple played by Anchorman’s David Koechner and Love & Air Sex’s Sara Paxton. The dares are frivolous at first but they quickly turn violent. Cheap Thrills enjoyed its world premiere at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and played Fantastic Fest after the Austin-based Drafthouse Films acquired it for distribution. Cheap Thrills is now available on VOD and opened March 21 in Austin theaters. Drafthouse Films also is running a "Share to Dare" promotion that allows social media users to unlocks dares to be performed by Pat Healy, Ethan Embry, and Drafthouse Films CEO Tim League. I spoke with Cheap Thrills stars Pat Healy and Ethan Embry during last year’s Fantastic Fest.
