"Your Friend, Memphis"
Directed by David Zucker, the documentary Your Friend, Memphis offers an intimate look at the personal and professional struggles faced by Memphis DiAngelis, an Austin native with cerebral palsy. Shot over the course of five years, from 2015 to 2020, the documentary finds the twentysomething blogger and YouTuber Memphis pursuing his dream to become an actor and a filmmaker while trying to overcome the mounting obstacles that prevent him from finding a job to pay the bills as well as receiving services and benefits from the state. In addition, Memphis finds himself grappling with his intense feelings for the girl he not only considers his best friend but also his soulmate. Your Friend, Memphis will screen during this year’s SXSW Film Festival at 7:15 p.m. Friday, March 11 at the Alamo South Lamar, 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 13 at the AFS Cinema, and 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 at the Rollins Theatre at The Long Center.
