Interview:
Eric Hueber, writer/director,
"Flutter"
A mother will do anything within reason to protect her child, especially when her child is at the mercy of a cruel condition that could cause permanent damage if untreated. In writer/director Eric Hueber’s Flutter, JoLynn finds herself unable to make ends meet when her husband David leaves her and their 9-year-old son Johnathan to pursue a career in music. Johnathan has glaucoma, but because he does not respond well to prescription medication, JoLynn relieves his pain with marijuana brownies. Things come to a head when David’s mother Linda begins to question whether JoLynn is an unfit mother who cannot properly provide for Johnathan. Flutter stars Lindsay Pulsipher as JoLynn, Johnathan Huth Jr. as Johnathan, Jesse Plemons as David, Reis Myers McCormick as David’s mother Linda and Glenn Morshower as David’s compassionate father Mark. Shot in Austin, Bastrop, and Cedar Creek, Flutter represents Eric Hueber’s follow-up to his 2010 documentary Rainbows End. Flutter will screen 7:30 p.m. May 13 as part of the Texas Spotlight series at the Violet Crown Cinema.
