"Alien On Stage"
![]() There are Alien fans and then there are Lucy Harvey and Danielle Kummer. Their SXSW Online documentary Alien On Stage focuses on a British amateur theater company's efforts to perform their production of the sci-fi classic before a sold-out audience in London in 2013. Paranoid Dramatics, comprised of bus drivers, employees, and family members from the southwest of England, staged Alien in their hometown of Wimborne, Dorset, as a fundraiser. While attendance was low, Harvey was in the audience, having traveled 120 miles from London to Dorset to watch the bus drivers get their Ridley Scott on. Harvey so fell in love with the show that she persuaded a group of friends, including Kummer, to see the show with her the following weekend. One thing led to another and Harvey helped arrange for Paranoid Dramatics to stage the show in the heart of London's West End theater district. Harvey and Kummer's documentary chronicles Paranoid Dramatics' preparation for its London date and captures the staging of the show before an excited audience of Alien aficionados. Alien On Stage premieres 12 p.m. central March 18 during SXSW Online, which runs through March 20. Aired: March 18, 2021.
