Interview:
Lucky McKee,
director,
"Kindred Spirits"
Directed by Lucky McKee, the Austin-shot chiller Kindred Spirits pits a high school student against her scheming and possibly psychotic aunt. Everything seems fine when the carefree Sadie (Caitlin Stasey) visits her older half-sister Chloe (Thora Birch) in Austin. Chloe’s teenage daughter Nicole (Sasha Frolova) regards Sadie as the big sister she never had, and looks to her for crucial advice when it comes to dating and dealing with school bullies. But things take an unexpected turn for the worst when Sadie begins to view Nicole as a rival for Chloe’s motherly attention and guidance. Kindred Spirits also stars Austinite Mason Blair as Chloe’s boyfriend of sorts, Alex. Kindred Spirits, which premiered on Lifetime late last year, is now available on VOD. El Paso resident Lucky McKee previously co-directed both the 2001 and 2013 versions of All Cheerleaders Die with Kindred Spirits writer Chris Sivertson. McKee also directed May, The Wood, Red, The Woman, and Blood Money as well as the 2006 Masters of Horror episode Sick Girl.
