Want to help make a film but are too afraid to try? Then the Austin 48 Hour Film Project wants you. The Austin 48 Hour Film Project offers two opportunities in May and June for novices to join forces with experienced filmmakers to compete in movie-making contests, which requires participants to make a narrative short over the course of a single weekend. Open to teams from 16 cities in the United States, South America, and Europe, the 48 Hour Global Film Challenge will be held May 21-23, with a maximum of 12 teams from Austin eligible to compete. The Austin 48 Hour Film Project will then hold its annual city contest from June 11-13, with 12 local teams currently scheduled to compete, including veteran participating filmmaker Frank Orlando Salinas’ Team El Guapo. The 48 Hour Global Film Challenge premiere screening will be held online 7 p.m. May 25 on Eventive. The Austin 48 Hour Film Project premiere screening will be held online 6 p.m. June 21 on Eventive.
