Austin Polish Film Festival
The Austin Polish Film Festival runs Nov. 8 through Nov. 11 at the AFS Cinema. The film festival opens with the short drama Me and My Father, with Aleksander Pietrzak in attendance, followed by the drama A Cat With a Dog, with actress Bożena Stachura in attendance. The festival closes with a children’s program, the documentary Footsteps In the Snow, and writer/director Jerzy Antczak’s 1975 Polish war romance Nights and Days. Other films include director Paweł Pawlikowski’s Cold War, Clergy, Double Trouble, Julius, Over the Limit, Panic Attack, Silent Night, and Squadron 303: A True Story. The Austin Polish Film Festival also will host retrospective screenings of director Jan Komasa’s Warsaw ’44 by and director Roman Polanski’s The Pianist on Nov. 18 at Blanton Museum of Art as part of a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s regained independence.
