The 27th annual Austin Film Festival and Writers Conference goes virtual Oct. 22-26 with live and recorded filmmaker conversations, panels, script readings, and pitch competitions. Empire and Nashville producer will deliver opening remarks on Oct. 22 and Nine Lives directors Rodrigo Garcia and Guardian of the Galaxy screenwriter Nicole Perlman close the conference with their "Moving Forward" panel. The conference features conversations with Dolemite Is My Name screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, Barry creators Alec and Berg and Bill Hader, Homeland co-creator Howard Gordon, Utopia creator Gillian Flynn, Gladiator screenwriter John Logan, The Old Guard director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Bill and Ted franchise screenwriter Ed Solomon, and Da 5 Bloods screenwriter Kevin Willmott.
