Interview: Nick Frost, "Cuban Fury"
Nick Frost shows off his dance moves in Cuban Fury, a rom-com that finds the Shaun of the Dead funnyman returning to his childhood salsa past in his bid to woo his seemingly unobtainable boss (Parks and Recreation’s Rashida Jones). Frost’s Bruce Garrett hasn’t put on his Latin dance shoes since being bullied in 1987 for being a junior salsa dance champion. So he turns to his old dance instructor Ron (Ian McShane) and his new best friend Bejan (Kayan Novak) to help him get back into dancing shape. Standing in Bruce’s way is his dastardly office rival Drew (Bridesmaids’ Chris O’Dowd). Frost’s Hot Fuzz costar Olivia Colman plays Bruce’s supportive sister and former dance partner Sam. Cuban Fury, which opens April 18 in Austin, represents Nick Frost’s first solo film vehicle. He is best known for collaborating with Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright on the Britcom Spaced and The Cornetto Trilogy of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End. He also just signed on for the Fox comedy pilot Sober Companion, in which he will star as an alcoholic lawyer opposite Justin Long, who plays his court-appointed sober companion.
