Writer/director Lex Lybrand’s new legal comedy The Trolls focuses on an Austin tech start-up that falls victim to a patent troll. Unable to move forward with manufacturing and selling its “Never-Charging Battery,” the company’s founders (Rob Gagnon, Lisa Friedrich and Pat Dean) and their attorney (Katie Pengra) plot their revenge by exploiting a legal loophole to troll the patent troll. The Austin-based Lex Lybrand previously directed Summer League and Meet Me There; the latter also starred Lisa Friedrich. The Trolls will screen 7:30 p.m. March 14 at the Alamo Drafthouse Village. Nathan Ehrmann (center), who plays the patent troll’s attorney, and The Trolls writer/director Lex Lybrand (left) join Lisa Friedrich (right) during this interview.
