"Flora and Son"
While music courses through Eve Hewson's veins, the 32-year-old daughter of U2's Bono makes her singing debut more than a decade into her acting career with writer/director John Carney's latest Dublin-set character study, Flora and Son. Native Dubliner Hewson star in Carney's music dramedy as Flora, a single mother trying to make ends meet while contending with her troublemaker teenage son Max (Orén Kinlan). Seeking a break from her daily struggles, Flora finds solace in online guitar lessons from California-based musician Jeff (Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Flora's newfound interest in music provides her with an unexpected opportunity to bond with Max, an aspiring rapper. But Max's goal to become Dublin's next hip-hop sensation is threatened by his inability to stay on the right side of the law. Flora and Son also stars Jack Reynor as Ian, Flora's ex and Max's father. Flora and Son, which was written by John Carney of Once, Begin Again, and Sing Street fame, is now available to stream at Apple TV+. Eve Hewson previously starred in the films This Must Be the Place, Blood Ties, Enough Said, Bridge of Spies, Robin Hood, and Tesla, She appeared in the Steven Soderbergh series The Knick and currently stars in AppleTV+'s Dublin-set comedy series Bad Sisters.
