"Thirst"
Written and directed by Black Pistol Fire drummer Eric Owen, the Austin-shot psychological drama Thirst finds a small Texas town unraveling in the days leading up to and during a local emergency. An undetected contamination of the local water supply results in some residents who drink tap water experiencing insomnia and displaying manic behavior. When the contamination is detected and made public, and basic goods and services become unavailable, panic quickly sets in among the town's residents. Thirst focuses on two couples affected by the emergency and the resulting eruption of violence. Brian Villalobos and Lori Kovacevich play married couple Jose and Lucy, who are trying to get pregnant. Jose’s sister Vicky and her girlfriend Lisa (Federica Estaba Rangel and Stephanie Slayton, respectively) are struggling to keep their fragile relationship together. Thirst is now available for digital and on-demand viewing. Shot in Austin and La Grange, Thirst represents the first produced screenplay by Eric Owen, who previously directed a number of short films. Owen, the drummer for Austin rock duo Black Pistol Fire, also composed the score for Thirst. He is preparing to shoot his second feature, the contained thriller Collapse, in 2024.
