49th Annual Paramount Summer Classic Film Series
The 49th Paramount Summer Classic Film Series, which runs May 26-Sept. 2, features programs hosted by Austin filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, the Hyperreal Film Club, the Harry Ransom Center, We Luv Video, the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, and the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum. In keeping with recent tradition, the series opens on May 26 with Casablanca. It closes Sept. 2 with the Robert Rodriguez selection What's Up, Doc? The series also will celebrate Juneteenth with its "Celebrating Black Excellence in Cinema" program and LGBTQ+ Pride Month with its "Majestic Ball Week" selections that lead up to the Paramount Theatre's Majestic Ball on June 24. Other programs celebrate the work of Alfred Hitchcock, Michelle Pfeiffer, Vincent Price, and the Hustons. The series will also offers programs focused on family films, teen comedies, foreign fairy tales, vampire yarns, classic dance films and musicals, television-themed dramas, Hollywood epics, and U.S. and foreign films celebrating milestone anniversaries.
