"All Jacked Up and Full of Worms"
Directed by Oscar Harding, A Life on the Farm celebrates the outsider art of Charles Carson, an elderly English farmer who spent much of the 1980s and 1990s making amateur films on VHS. The documentary features recovered footage from Carson’s recordings that are informed and inspired by his life and his work on his beloved Coombe End Farm in rural English; his relationship with his wife, his brother, and his parents; and his positive attitude toward death that leads director Oscar Harding down a dark and unexpected path. A Life on the Farm will screen at 2:10 p.m. Sept. 25 and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Alamo South Lamar during Fantastic Fest. A Life on the Farm will also be available to stream from Thursday, Sept. 29 through Oct. 4 during Fantastic Fest’s virtual event FF@Home. Oscar Harding makes his documentary feature directorial debut with A Life on the Farm.
