Directed by Gabriel Bier Gislason, the Jewish folklore-inspired chiller Attachment focuses on two young lovers struggling to make their blossoming relationship work when one of them needs to go into convalescence. After a whirlwind romance in Denmark, has-been actress Maja (Josephine Park) follows her Hasidic girlfriend Leah (Ellie Kendrick) to London after the latter suffers a seizure and returns home to receive constant care from her mother Chana (Sofie Gråbøl). At first, Maja assumes Chana either does not like her or is being overly protective of Leah. But Maja slowly comes to perceives Chana’s behavior as potentially threatening and sets out to find out what’s really happening between mother and ailing daughter. Attachment, which premiered locally during last year’s Fantastic Fest, is now available to stream on Shudder. Attachment represents Danish filmmaker Gabriel Bier Gislason’s directorial debut.
