Interview:
Geremy Jasper,
writer/director,
"Patti Cake$"
In writer/director Geremy Jasper's musical drama Patti Cake$, New Jerseyite Patricia Dombrowski (Danielle Macdonald) dreams of life as a rap star. Operating first under the rap name Killa P, and then Patti Cake$, Patricia fights tooth and nail against the demands of her unsupportive mother Barb (Inside Amy Schumer and Lady Dynamite's Bridget Everett) to abandon her ambitions and get on with her life. Patti Cake$ represents the first feature film from New Jersey-born Geremy Jasper, who previously directed the music videos for Selena Gomez & the Scene's "Love You Like a Love Song" and Florence + the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over." Patti Cake$, which received its Austin premiere during this year's SXSW Film Festival, opened Aug. 25.
