"Writer's Block"
Written and directed by Austinites Jeff Kerr and Ray Spivey, the psychological thriller Writer’s Block finds author Skip Larson struggling to duplicate the critical and minor commercial success of his first novel. When all seems lost, Larson receives the opportunity of lifetime: help write the long-awaited sequel to one of best-selling novelist Chester Everett McGraw’s biggest hits. Larson agrees to spend the next six months locked away with McGraw at his ranch house to work on the book. But on the first night on the job, Larson quickly realizes McGraw employs some undesirable methods to get the best writing out of his subordinates. Writer’s Block stars Craig Nigh as Skip Larson, Mike Gassaway as Chester Everett McGraw, Chris Warner as McGraw’s henchman Digger Haskell, and Jeannie Carter-Cruz as McGraw’s housekeeper Catalina. Writer’s Block will screen 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Lakeway Resort during the Lake Travis Film Festival. Jeff Kerr and Ray Spivey previously directed the documentary The Last of the Moonlight Towers.
