Lead Film Programmer Lars Nilsen previews the Austin Film Society's September 2019 programming at the AFS Cinema. Highlights include the Children of Abraham/Ibrahim series guest curated by Chale Nafus; the Alt-Altman mini-series featuring the Robert Altman-directed OC and Stiggs; and the Art-House Theater Day screening of director Peter Strickland's upcoming oddity In Fabric. Director Arturo Ripstein will attend a screening of Bleak Street. The History of Television series hosts Dwight Adair as he discusses an episode of Dallas he directed in the 1980s. The AFS Cinema also will host screenings of Fast Color, the Austin-shot Sister Aimee, and The Mountain with Tye Sheridan in attendance; new releases Raise Hell: The Life and Times of Molly Ivins, Miles: Davis: Birth of the Cool, and Desolation Center; and repertory titles All That Jazz, Betty Blue, Blue Velvet, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, The Fog, Re-Animator, and Seven Samurai.
