Interview:
Gabe Ibáñez,
writer/director,
"Automata"
Employing Isaac Asimov’s “Three Laws of Robotics” as a jumping-off point, writer/director Gabe Ibáñez’s Automata presents a futuristic world in which robots undertake the work humans no longer can or want to do due to harsh climate conditions. Antonio Banderas stars as the insurance claim checker who investigates the possibility that one robot has found a way to violate the seemingly irrevocable protocols that prevent it from harming humans and performing self-repairs. Automata, which premiered locally at this year’s Fantastic Fest with Gabe Ibáñez in attendance, is now available on demand and digital download.
