"Avengers: Endgame" Discussion
After 11 years, 22 films, and three phases, the Marvel Cinematic Universe faces an uncertain future following the climatic events of Avengers: Endgame. The sequel to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War finds surviving superheroes Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, the Hulk, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, War Machine, Nebula, and Rocket Racoon out to thwart Thanos five years after the malevolent alien warlord snapped his Infinity Stones-encrusted glove and wiped out half of all living beings in the universe. Endgame, which opened April 26 to a record-breaking $357.1 million, serves as the penultimate entry of Phase 3 of MCU, which comes to an end with July’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. So what comes next? We know Marvel is about to begin production on a Black Widow solo adventure and is moving forward with sequels to Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel is also planning to bring The Eternals and Shang-Chi to the big screen. Then there are the Disney+ miniseries Falcon & Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Loki, and WandaVision. Finally, with the completion of the Disney-Fox merger, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Silver Surfer will at some point join the MCU. So Avengers: Endgame is quite clearly the end of the beginning. KOOP’s very own Bryan Spaulding, the host of The Pull List, joins Lights Camera Austin to discuss Avengers: Endgame and the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Pull List can be heard 6-7 p.m. every Wednesday on KOOP HD1 HD3 and at http://koop.org. Aired: April 29, 2019 Web sites: http://www.koop.org https://www.marvel.com/movies/avengers-endgame |
