Interview:
Sean Patrick Flanery,
co-writer/director,
"Frank & Penelope"
Co-written and directed by actor Sean Patrick Flanery, the idiosyncratic West Texas-shot thriller Frank & Penelope chronicles the unlikely romance between a quiet and unassuming suburban husband and the intoxicating stripper he meets under less-than-ideal circumstances. Forced to go on the run, Frank (Billy Budinich) and Penelope (Caylee Cowan) make the mistake of stopping at a rundown motel in the middle of the West Texas desert. There they run afoul of religious zealot Chisos (That Thing You Do!’s Johnathon Schaech) and his acolytes. Frank & Penelope also stars Kevin Dillion, Lin Shaye, and Donna D'Errico. Sean Patrick Flanery makes a brief appearance as a scheming strip club owner. Produced by Scott Dolezal and his Austin-based Redbud Studios, with some scenes shot in Austin, Frank & Penelope, which opened June 3 in Austin, is now available for digital and VOD viewing and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray beginning Aug. 16. Louisiana-born Houstonite Sean Patrick Flanery is best known for playing Connor MacManus in The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saint Day. He also starred in Powder, Suicide Kings, Simply Irresistible, Body Shots, Saw: The Final Chapter, The Devil’s Carnival Phantom, and Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word. Flanery’s TV work included starring as Indiana Jones in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Greg Stillson in The Dead Zone, Jacob Elway in Dexter, and Gunpowder in the third season of The Boys. He also appeared in the Tobe Hooper-directed Masters of Horror episode The Damned Thing.
