2019 Summer Film Camps Program
As part of its youth filmmakers program, the Austin Film Festival is partnering with the local multi-disciplinary arts initiative Story Bar to offer a new summer camp for students ages 13-18. Scheduled to be held June 10-14, the Story Starter interactive class will help campers explore various storytelling techniques they may apply to all mediums, including film. Story Bar founder/artistic director Erin Hallagan, the Austin Film Festival's former creative director and current board member, will oversee the camp. The Austin Film Festival also will offer its traditional summer camps, including Filmmaking 101 and Claymation Creations for students ages 9-12 and Script to Screen and Write, Shoot, Direct! for students ages 13-18. The Austin Film Festival's Director of Young Filmmakers Program Olivia Riordan joins Hallagan to discuss the festival's summer film camps and preview the festival's June programming, which includes screenings of Cookie's Fortune on June 2 at the Violet Crown Cinema, with Austin-based screenwriter Anne Rapp in attendance, and the 2018 Narrative Feature Audience Award Above the Clouds on June 11 at the Alamo Drafthouse Village.
