writer/director,
"Test Pattern"
![]() In Shatara Michelle Ford’s Austin-shot drama Test Pattern, an African-American sexual assault victim and her white boyfriend crisscross the city in search of a medical provider who can administer a rape kit exam. Ballers’ Brittany S. Hall stars as Renesha, who is re-traumatized the day after being raped by the bureaucratic barriers, institutional inefficiencies, the gender inequalities, and the casual racism she encounters. The race against the clock soon puts a strain on the relationship between Renesha and her supportive and equally frustrated boyfriend Evan (The OA’s Will Brill). Test Pattern will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 20 and is also available to stream through the Violet Crown Austin’s Virtual Cinema program. Test Pattern represents the directorial debut of St. Louis-raised filmmaker Shatara Michelle Ford, who previously wrote and directed the 2016 short film Afro-Woman: 2016 CE. Aired: April 15, 2021.
