AGFA Cinemapocalypse
Founded in 2009, the American Genre Film Archive serves as a repository of rare 35mm film prints of mostly exploitation flicks from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, some of which have been brought to Austin and screened at the Alamo Drafthouse. At 2 p.m. Aug. 9, the Alamo Ritz will hold AGFA Cinemapocalypse. Five guest programmers, including L.A.’s Heavy Midnites programmer Phil Blankenship and the Alamo Drafthouse’s New York programmer Cristina Cacioppo, will each screen a rare film from the AGFA archives. Titles have not been announced. Alamo Drafthouse’s New York programmer Cristina Cacioppo joins Heavy Midnites programmer Phil Blankenship during this interview.
