"Lula Del Ray"
A stage show told cinematically through the use shadow puppets, actors in silhouette, overhead projectors and live music, Manuel Cinema’s 1950s-set Lula Del Ray chronicles the adventure a young girl experiences in her bid to attend a concert by heartthrob country music duo, the Baden Brothers. Lula Del Ray is one of the five live cinematic shadow puppet shows created by the Chicago-based performance collective Manual Cinema and the first to be performed in Austin. Manuel Cinema will perform the shadow puppetry show Lula Del Ray at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Long Center. Manual Cinema co-artistic director Sarah Fornace originated the role of Lula and co-designed and co-directed the production.
