Alamo Drafthouse director of programming for Austin and San Antonio R.J. LaForce previews the August 2019 programming at the Alamo Drafthouse Austin. The Ritz will celebrate Pride 2019 with Bound, Cassandro, the Exotico, Clueless, Diamantino, Mean Girls, and Paris is Burning. Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood --showing at multiple Drafthouse locations in 35mm--inspired the "Don't Try This Home" series, which features the stunt-driven films Dredd, Drunken Master, Hot Rod, Mad Max Fury Road, and Buster Keaton's Steamboat Bill Jr. "The Films of 1999" series shines a spotlight on many of the classics released two decades ago, including Dick, Go, Election, Magnolia, and Three Kings. The Stephen King "King-Size Summer" series continues with The Dark Half, The Dead Zone, Firestarter, The Green Mile, It, Stand By Me, and The Running Man. Rolling Roadshow welcomes Val Kilmer for screenings on Tombstone and Top Gun.
