![]() The 2015 SXSW Film Festival opens March 13 with the Russell Brand documentary BRAND: A Second Coming and continues through March 21 with screenings of Ex Machina, Get Hard, Lost River, Love & Mercy, Ned Rifle, Salt of the Earth, Spy, Trainwreck, and Wild Horses. Films with Austin ties include David Gordon Green’s Manglehorn, Andrew Bujalski’s Results, Hannah Fidell’s 6 Years, Bob Byington’s 7 Chinese Brothers, Todd Rohal’s Uncle Kent 2, and the documentaries Barge, A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story, The Jones Family Will Make a Way, and Sir Doug and the Genuine Texas Cosmic Groove. There also will be a retrospective screening of The Road Warrior, with director George Miller in attendance, and screenings of six restored shorts made in Austin in the 1980s that will screen under the title of Jonathan Demme Made in Texas. The SXSW Film Conference will include conversations with Ryan Gosling, Sally Field, Amy Schumer, and director Jeff Nichols and his Take Shelter star Michael Shannon.
