Interview:
Jon Gunn,
director,
"Ordinary Angels"
Directed by Jon Gunn, the fact-based, faith-driven drama Ordinary Angels recalls the efforts in the early 1990s by a Kentucky hairdresser to raise and manage funds for a young girl in desperate need of a liver transplant. Hilary Swank stars as Sharon Stevens, an alcoholic divorcée desperate to reconnect with her estranged adult son. When she learns about Michelle Schmitt's illness, Sharon sees an opportunity not just to help a child in need but to get her own life in order. Initially appreciative of Sharon's fund-raising campaign, Michelle's widowed father Ed (Reacher's Alan Ritchson) becomes increasingly alarmed by this kindhearted but troubled stranger's erratic behavior when her drinking threatens to undo all the good she has done. Based on a screenplay credited to actress Meg Tilly and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.'s writer/director Kelly Fremon Craig, Ordinary Angels opened Feb. 22 in theaters. Jon Gunn, who specializes in making faith-based films, previously directed The Case for Christ, Do You Believe?, Like Dandelion Dust, and My Date With Drew. He also wrote Jesus Revolution, American Underdog, and I Still Believe. Posted: Feb. 22, 2024. Web site: https://ordinaryangels.movie/ |
