"Sword of Trust"
Co-written and directed by Lynn Shelton, the Alabama-set comedy Sword of Trust finds Jillian Bell enlisting the services of Marc Maron’s pawnbroker to sell a Confederate Army Sword to a mysterious group of Civil War conspiracists. The supporting cast includes Michaela Watkins as Bell’s partner, Jon Bass as Maron’s assistant, and Toby Huss as the leader of the Neo-Confederates who believe the sword has significant historical value. Lynn Shelton also plays a pivotal role as Maron’s former girlfriend, a recovering drug addict. Sword of Trust, which premiered locally during this year’s SXSW Film Festival, opened Aug. 2 in Austin. Lynn Shelton previously directed Marc Maron in episodes of the TV shows Maron and Glow. Shelton also directed the films We Go Way Back, What the Funny, My Effortless Brillance, Humpday, Your Sister’s Sister, Touchy Feely, Laggies, and Outside In and episodes of such TV shows as Mad Men, New Girl, Fresh Off the Boat, Master of None, Love, A.P.
