Austin Asian American Film Festival
The Austin Asian American Film Festival runs June 26-30 at the AFS Cinema. Devoted to features and shorts made by Asian and Asian-American filmmakers, as well as films about the Asian and Asian-American experience, the festival opens June 26 with the Vietnamese music documentary New Wave and closes June 30 with the romantic dramedy Ben and Suzanne, A Reunion in 4 Parts. The festival also features the centerpiece film Blue Sunshine, screening June 28; the narrative films All Ears, Fanti, A Great Divide, Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell, Killing the Violet, and Push Pause; and the documentaries Ashima, A Band of Dreamers and a Judge, and Home Court. There are three shorts block, including the Not So Short Shorts Block on June 30, which features Austin-based filmmaker Sachin Dheeraj Mudigonda’s Hurricane Katrina-themed drama Men in Blue.
