Director Henry Horenstein’s short documentary Spoke traces the storied 50-year history of one of Austin’s must illustrious music venues, the Broken Spoke. The documentary includes interviews with the honky-tonk dancehall’s owners James and Annetta White as well as musicians Jesse Dayton, Cornell Hurd, and Dale Watson. Henry Horenstein is a Massachusetts-based photographer who works includes exhibits and books devoted to honky tonk. Spoke is a companion piece to the traveling exhibit “Honky Tonk” and the book “Honky Tonk: Portraits of Country Music.” Spoke will screen 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Alamo Drafthouse Village before Crazy Carl and His Man Boobs: An Austin Love Story during the Austin Film Festival.
