"Transpecos"
Co-written and directed by the Austin-based Greg Kwedar, the thriller Transpecos focuses on a drug bust gone bad at a remote U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint in the Texas desert. Three U.S. border patrol officers (Gabriel Luna, Clifton Collins Jr. and Johnny Simmons) find themselves stuck with 150 pounds of cocaine that a Mexican drug cartel wants back. Transpecos won this year’s SXSW Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. It will screen 4:45 p.m. April 30 during the Hill Country Film Festival in Fredericksburg. Transpecos marks the feature-film directorial debut of Greg Kwedar, who co-wrote the thriller with Clint Bentley.
