Running May 18-20 at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, the fifth annual Noir City Austin film festival features five double bills of “A” and “B” thrillers from the 1940s and the 1950s. The pairings are I Wake Up Screaming (1941) and Quiet Please, Murder (1942); The Blue Dahlia (1946) and I Walk Alone (1947); The Accused (1949) and The Underworld Story (1950); The Unsuspected (1947) and The Threat (1949); and The Man Who Cheated Himself (1950) and Roadblock (1951). Noir City Austin 2018 host/co-producer Eddie Muller also is the founder and president of the Film Noir Foundation, which also runs the San Francisco Film Noir Festival. He also host sNoir Alley, which airs 11 p.m. central every Saturday on Turner Classic Movies. Film Noir Foundation board member Alan K. Rode will introduce the May 20 features and sign copies of his new book, “Michael Curtiz: A Life in Film.”
