"Ex Machina"
In writer/director Alex Garland’s sci-fi cautionary tale Ex Machina, Oscar Isaac’s billionaire inventor invites Domhnall Gleeson’s programmer to conduct a battery of tests on his latest creation. Ava (Alicia Vikander) is an android that possesses artificial intelligence. Gleeson’s job is to determine whether Ava could pass as human. Ex Machina premiered locally at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and opened April 17 in Austin. Alex Garland previously wrote 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, and Dredd. Oscar Isaac recently starred in A Most Violent Year and will appear with Domhnall Gleeson in December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
