"The Landing"
Written and directed by brothers David Dodson and Mark Dodson, the faux documentary The Landing recalls the tragic events of NASA’s Apollo 18 mission in 1973. The Dallas natives combine footage of the short film they shot in the early 1990s, and set during the fictitious moon landing in 1973, with new “interviews” they conducted two decades later with the actors/characters who appeared in the original short. The Landing cuts back and forth between the mystery that unfolds in 1973 and the “interviews” from 1998. Don Hannah plays Apollo 18 astronaut Bo Cunningham, whose actions during the mission remain under a cloud of suspicion. The Landing will screen 9 p.m. Oct. 27 at St. David’s Episcopal Church and 10 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Alamo Drafthouse Village during the Austin Film Festival.
