“Love is familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love,” William Shakespeare wrote in his comedy Love’s Labour’s Lost. For Jake O'Hare and Jennifer Sturley, love is filming their adaptation of the play at their alma mater, St. Stephen's Episcopal School. The Austin boarding schools serves as the modern setting of Navarre Academy, where student president Ferdinand persuades three friends to put their studies above romance. The arrival of four girls at the school, including the Princess of Aquitane, places this vow of chastity in jeopardy. Love’s Labour’s Lost represents the directorial debuts of UCLA film student Jake O'Hare and Austin-based screenwriter and theater educator Jennifer Sturley. Love’s Labour’s Lost will screen 2:30 p.m. April 28 at the during the Hill Country Film Festival at Fritztown Cinema in Fredericksburg.
