RTX Austin 2019
The RTX Austin 2019—the Austin-based Rooster Teeth’s ninth annual community gathering that is devoted to everything from gaming to film and TV shows to podcasting to cosplay—will be held July 5-7 at the Austin Convention Center, with evening events planned for July 4. RTX Austin 2019 includes screenings, panels, cosplay contests, and autograph sessions related to Rooster Teeth narrative, reality, and gaming content. This year’s event also marks the debut of the RTX Podcast Festival. RTX Austin 2019’s Evening Programming kicks off with the premiere of the inaugural season of Rooster Teeth/Funhaus sketch comedy series Arizona Circle during First Night at 5 p.m. July 4 at the Paramount Theatre and at 8 p.m. July 4 with Achievement Hunter Live at ACL Moody Theater. The Evening Programming also includes Theater Mode Live at the Paramount Theatre at 8 p.m. July 5 at the Paramount; a screening of the new action comedy Stuber at 7:30 p.m. July 6 at the Paramount Theatre with star Kumail Nanjiani in attendance; and “A Kinda Funny Comedy Night” at 8 p.m. July 6 at the North Door. The RTX Animation Festival, which runs July 5-7 at the Fairmont Austin, will include panels and screenings devoted to Rooster Teeth’s new animated series gen:LOCK, Adult Swim’s Tigtone, Disney Channel’s Amphibia, TBS’ Final Space, DC Universe’s Young Justice: Outsiders, and the Austin-based Powerhouse Animation Studios’ slate of current and upcoming shows, including Castlevania, Seis Manos, and Gods & Heroes. Rooster Teeth and DC—both owned by WarnerMedia—will host a panel devoted to their previously announced RWBY and gen:LOCK comic book series. RTX Austin 2019 also will include an "Ask the CEO" panel with Matt Hullum, who may face questions about the recent negative online employee reviews about Austin-based company’s reported crunch culture, working atmosphere, and lack of career advancement. In the wake of those RT Glassdoor Page comments, Rooster Teeth announced Gray G. Haddock will step down as the head of studio of animation to take on a “strictly creative role.”
