"Silent Films Out Loud:
Halloween Edition"
Oh, the horror of the “Silent Films Out Loud: Halloween Edition.” Frankenstein lives. The House of Usher falls. Buster Keaton busts ghosts. Austin composers Jackie Myers, Bob Hoffnar, and Dave Biller reunite after last year’s “Silent Films Out Loud” musical performance and screening of three Buster Keaton shorts with a Halloween Edition on Nov. 1 that will scare you out of your wits or, at the very least, leave you in stiches. The orchestra Density512 will perform each live original score for 1910’s Frankenstein, 1928’s The Fall of the House of Usher, and Buster Keaton’s 1921 comedy The Haunted House. 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Blanton Museum of Art. Pianist and singer/songwriter Jackie Myers and guitarist Dave Biller collaborated on the live original score for The Haunted House; pedal steel guitarist Bob Hoffnar wrote the live original score for Frankenstein; and pianist Jean Hasse contributed the live original score for The Fall of the House of Usher. Plans are already underway for a “Silent Films Out Loud” musical performance and screening, scheduled for Jan. 17, 2019 at the Blanton Museum of Art, that will be devoted to more classic short films directed by Buster Keaton.
