OUTsider Fest
![]() OUTsider Fest, an annual celebration of LGBTQ+ creative communities, runs Feb. 19-23 at various venues, with film screenings at the Vortex. The festival will open at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 with the experimental film The (ART) oF BE(i)NG, followed by a live performance by its creator JB Ghuman Jr., and continues Feb. 22 with the sex and body positive queer erotic short film program “Hot Bits” and 2 p.m. Feb. 23 with the Chicago-based Open Television showcase “Bad and Black: Queer Pilots from OTV.” OUTsider Fest also celebrates the work of director Jennifer Reeder with an early career retrospective at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 23 and a screening of her directorial debut Knives and Skin at 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at University of Texas’ CMB Building, with Reeder in attendance for both screenings. Beyond film, OUTsider Fest features music, plays and multimedia performances.
