May 2024 Programming
The Austin Film Society's May 2024 programming is highlighted by two series: Oscar Micheaux, celebrating the films of the pioneer Black filmmaker, and Noir Canon, featuring the classics Ace in the Hole, Clash by Night, Gilda, and Pickup on South Street. Special screenings include Wild Cat, with director Ethan Hawke in attendance, and Austin-based filmmaker Katherine Propper's Lost Soulz. New releases include Evil Does Not Exist and the Best of the Fests selections The Sweet East and Omen. Retrospective screenings include Le Samouraï, Millennium Actress, Not a Pretty Picture, the Fright Club selection The House That Screamed (La Residencia), and the Lates selections Tokyo Eyes and The Princess and the Warrior. The Queer Cinema: Lost & Found series brings Chuck Vincent's Roommates to the AFS Cinema.
