"Tremors" Pilot
The Kevin Bacon 1990 monster action-comedy Tremors spawned a total of five direct-to-video sequels and prequels—most recently 2018’s Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell—and a short-lived Syfy television in 2003. The franchise pits the residents of Perfection, Nevada, against giant sandworms known as “graboids.” Kevin Bacon, though, never reprised his role as Perfection resident and hero Valentine McKee until 2017, when he shot a pilot for a new Tremors television for Syfy that hailed from Universal TV and Blumhouse Production. The pilot was written by creator/executive producer Andrew Miller and directed by Cube and Splice’s Vincenzo Natali. In 2018, though, Syfy choose not to move forward with Tremors. A presentation of the Tremors pilot, featuring clips and a partial script reading, will be held 10 a.m. June 8 at the State Theatre during this year’s ATX Television Festival with creator/executive producer/writer Andrew Miller and cast members Kevin Bacon, P.J. Byrne, Toks Olagundoye, Haley Tju, and Emily Tremaine in attendance.
