"Lava"

Written and directed by James Ford Murphy, the Hawaiian-themed Lava tells a tale through song about a lonely volcano who longs to meet his soulmate before he becomes extinct. Lava writer/director by James Ford Murphy previously worked as an animator on such Pixar classics as Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille. He also was the supervising animator for Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated short For the Birds. Lava premiered locally at this year’s SXSW Film Festival. During this interview, conducted during the SXSW Film Festival, James Ford Murphy sings and performs an excerpt of “Lava” on his ukulele.
