Interview:
Guy Pearce,
"The Convert"
Written and directed by Once Were Warriors and Die Another Day’s Lee Tamahori, the historical drama The Convert stars Guy Pearce as an English lay preacher caught between two warring Māori tribes in 1830s New Zealand. Upon his arrival at a remote British settlement of Epworth, Pearce’s Thomas Munro’s hopes for a quiet existence are shattered when he witnesses a brutal act of violence that only serves to heighten hostilities between the tribes. An army veteran still recovering from his emotional and psychological battle scars, Munro’s newly adopted moral code compels him to broker peace between the tribes. But Munro’s noble efforts run counter to one tribe’s philosophy that “only blood redeems blood.” The Convert is now available for digital/on-demand viewing. Australian actor Guy Pearce has starred in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, L.A. Confidential, Ravenous, Memento, The Time Machine, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Hurt Locker, The King’s Speech, Prometheus, Iron Man 3, The Rover, and the Austin-shot Results. Aired: July 17, 2024.
