New releases include Fire Music: The Story of Free Jazz, Faya Dayi, The Capote Tapes, the Best of the Fests presentation of Cryptozoo, and the Modern Masters presentation of Days. Repertory and newly restored screenings include Akira, Daisies, F For Fake, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Nashville, Ran, The Shining, Working Girls, and Hayao Miyazaki's 1979 Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. The Lates program features Faust, Vortex, Tokyo Fist, and Ferat Vampire. On Sept. 28, Richard Linklater will host a post-screening discussion with civil litigator John Raley, the subject of the documentary Guilty Until Proven Innocent. The Austin Film Society also launches two major series, Over the Edge: The Herzog Restorations Part One and The Wilder Touch, at the end of September.
