Featuring 10 nonfiction films, the Austin Film Society’s fifth Doc Days film festival runs May 1-5 at the AFS Cinema. Doc Days 2024 opens May 1 with Union, which chronicles the struggles of Amazon warehouse workers to unionize. Doc Days also comprises of Defiant, Devo, Look Into My Eyes, A New Kind of Wilderness, Seeking Mavis Beacon, Sugarcane, the Andy Kaufman documentary Thank You Very Much, former Austinite Kyle Henry’s Time Passages, and University of Texas alum Nicole Chi Amén’s Guián. The Austin Film Society remains busy in May with its Texas Film Hall of Fame induction of Austin-born actor Glen Powell. The Anyone But You, Devotion, and Top Gun 2 star’s induction events begin May 15 at the Paramount Theatre with a screening of Hit Man, which Powell stars in and co-wrote with director Richard Linklater, and is followed on May 16 by the Toast to Texas Film gala at Troublemaker Studios.
