"The Gift"
Directed by the Austin-based Lisa Belcher, the Hong Kong-shot short drama The Gift focuses on a 12-year-old boy who is subjected to bullying when he starts a new school. The Gift represents the directorial debut of Lisa Belcher, who adapted the short with Harry Oram from a story by Lisa Belcher’s brother, Steven Wayne. Lisa Belcher moved back to Austin after making The Gift in Hong Kong and shot the short Every Tuesday. The Gift will screen 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane, before Trippin’ to the Altar, during the Austin Revolution Film Festival.
